On the evening of February 27, 2010, Culver
City Rotary observed its 80th anniversary with a terrific party at the
Beverly Hills Country Club----which once in its previous life as the
Standard Club was the meeting venue for
Culver City Rotary meetings for close to 20 years. If you weren't
there, you missed a great evening of fun, frivolity
and recognition of many Rotarians for their contributions to the
accomplishments of the club over many years as
well as proclamations honoring the Rotary Club.
Special recognition must be given to Carmela Raack and Janet
Chabola who pleaded, prodded and who knows
what else, to prepare the program and to motivate the rest of the
anniversary gala committee to make the
event so memorable.
Guests from Kaizuka attended as did our past president, past
district governor and all around dedicated Rotarian
Pat Cashin. Hyperactive photographers Craig Ferre' and Rod Miyata
took more than enough pictures, many of
which are shown on these pages for your enjoyment.
Red Betts and Ed Little received well-deserved Lifetime Achievement
awards.
With past presidents, awardees and any other Rotarian with a good story
to tell being given the microphone,
a lot of nostalgia--- many wonderful stories of Culver City Rotary, what
it means---what it has done for the
community and the world---were related. A memorable evening
indeed!
