CULVER CITY ROTARY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Rotary Club of Culver City, established the Culver City Rotary Community Foundation in 1987 to further the charitable works of the Club in the local community and internationally. The Foundation is operated by a Board of Directors, which is elected by the members of the Rotary Club of Culver City.

The Foundation offers the members of the Club and the community a permanent vehicle to receive tax deductible contributions and initiate and fund worthwhile projects on a year round basis. The Foundation continues to support all of the projects that the Club has supported throughout the years. The YMCA, the Culver City Education Fund, Boy Scouts, senior citizens housing, the Polio Corrective Surgery project, and other community programs all benefit. The Foundation will be able to further the participation of the members as Paul Harris Fellows by offering matching funds on a more regular and permanent basis than before thus enhancing the  the works and worth of the Rotary International Foundation.

The Foundation allows a broader base for contributions and a permanent method for receiving and disbursing funds. Gifts from estates, ongoing donor programs, businesses, other foundations and fund raising programs allow the Foundation to increase annual expenditures for traditional projects as well as establish an endowment fund that will grow to meet future needs. Because the Foundation is a qualified non-profit organization, gifts are, of course, tax deductible.

People give to The Culver City Rotary Community Foundation for many different reasons. Most people give because of a firm belief in  in the necessary existence of organizations such as Rotary to accomplish good works in the community and the world.

GIFTS TO THE FOUNDATION

Gifts can be made to the Foundation in a variety of ways. Although this is a summary of the general features and benefits of each alternative, depending on your current situation of  there may be additional tax advantages available.  Please consult your tax professional for further information.

o OUTRIGHT GIFTS OF MONEY

This is the most familiar and easiest  method of giving. An outright gift has important advantages for the donor and the foundation. You have the satisfaction of making a gift and responding to an immediate need and this type of gift is easy to accomplish quickly.

o GIFTS BY BEQUEST

Contributions to the Foundation can be made through your Will. Such a gift can be accomplished by designating a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue from your estate to go to the Foundation upon your death.

o GIVING THROUGH LIFE INSURANCE

Among the many ways available of making a gift to the Foundation, life insurance provides perhaps the greatest flexibility for contributing a gift of any size- large or small- at a relatively small cost. Insurance can be used to assure a gift to the Foundation on what might be called the "installment plan."

o CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUSTS

Another vehicle available to make a gift to the Foundation is the  "charitable remainder trust." This is an agreement by which the creator of the trust- or another person- will receive income for life and the Foundation will receive any remaining assets of the trust upon the death of the life beneficiary. There can be substantial tax benefits for the donor.
